Will & Grace: The Complete First Season

I can still remember being in college on Thursdays nights; The only thing that had my undivided attention wasn't homework, a boyfriend or even dinner – it was NBC at around 8:30 PM. It was the best part of my week"”probably the only thing that got me through college. Whenever I was feeling down, I could always (and I mean, always) count on my favorite sitcom in all my 24 years to cheer me up"”Will & Grace (created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick).

Not only was the show a kind of resurgence; in the same way you find people to be charismatic, Will & Grace was a very charismatic show. You wanted to be around it and you couldn't help but not take your eyes off of it.

When the show first started back in 1998 (I was still in high school at the time), there was no other show on TV to compare it to. No other show had quite the same dynamic"”a straight woman living with a gay man.

There was really only one other show whose main character happened to be a gay"”"Ellen." And after less than four years, Ellen got canned.

On the one hand, had Ellen DeGeneres' show not been cancelled, Will & Grace may not have taken off the way it did. Whatever opinions viewers had about gay culture or gay people in general, the show brought a gay friendliness to home viewers that hadn't been recognized until Will & Grace came along. Will & Grace showed the world that gays and lesbians live life just as everyone else. They too have successful careers, long-lasting love and friendships.

Will & Grace will be remembered as one of those shows that wasn't afraid to take chances. And in a matter of eight years and counting (thanks to TV syndication) TV as we know it is changed forever.

It makes me sad to think about Will & Grace as over. There are so many things I'll miss about the show. I'll miss the character's expensive taste, one-night stands, dead-end side relationships and of course their dysfunctional relationships. But mostly I'll miss the show for its originality, hilarity and fun.

But with the first season now on DVD viewers can fall in love with Will (Eric McCormack), Grace (Debra Messing), Karen (Megan Mullally) and Jack (Sean Hayes) and everyone in between, all over again. Season One is filled with ear-to-ear laughs. Up-close and personal interviews with the cast, director and creator give it a special touch. Plus the DVD is packed with 11 themed featurettes, which are more like made-for-TV bloopers. So if you're a Will & Grace fan like me, Season One will leave wanting to get your hands on Season Two, Three, Four,

etc. Go out and buy Will & Grace, Season One and get reacquainted with one of America's most successful running TV shows.
