The Proposal is hands down one of the best comedies of the year. Even
though its romantic premise is flawed (honestly who would end up loving a boss they have loathed after being put through three years of hell) both Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock give brilliant comedic performances and offer a wonderfully slowly evolving onscreen chemistry. Peripheral family characters are also handled smartly rather than just turned into bland stereotypes by Craig T. Nelson, Mary Steenburgen and a still hysterical and loveable Betty White.
Director Anne Fletcher beautifully executes a flawed romantic premise
by mining every bit of comedic gold from her two leads. A scene involving Reynolds and Bullock stumbling into each other naked is
truly the funniest moment in the entire film.
Definitely worth the rental or purchase The Proposal has enough laughs
to warrant a second screening even if the romantic ending does seem a bit forced.
Special features include a fun making-of/blooper reel as well as director commentary.
