That 70s Show: The Complete Fourth Season

That 70′s Show is one of those shows that
doesn’t require much build up or explanation. The reason for that is its
amazing success and the control it held over television for its eight season run.

In case you haven’t turned on a TV in the past eight years I’ll
give you a small briefing on the show. The show is about a group of six
friends just chilling out and doing whatever they do in the 70′s. The
characteristic that makes the show so great though is the group of friends
themselves.

Eric Forman (Topher Grace) is the neutral guy in the
gang, he’s defiantly a shrimpy, skinny, geeky guy, but his car, basement and
personality make him fit right in with his group of friends. Of course there
is Eric’s ex-girlfriend and neighbor Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon).
Donna is the big redhead tom-boy who knows how to be a lady when needed.
Steven Hyde (Danny Masterson) is the rebel of the group, he does
what he wants when he wants, but with a few exceptions in season four.
Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) is the childhood friend of Forman
and Hyde and if you didn’t already know he is a complete moron, which makes
his character hilarious to watch. Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis) is
Kelso’s girlfriend who has gained a spot in the gang for simply that reason,
otherwise her I’m too good for you attitude probably wouldn’t have been
tolerated. Last, but definitely not least is Fez (Wilmer Valderrama).
Fez is a foreign exchange student who just latched onto Hyde one day and has
been part of the gang ever since.

Now that you know the characters it’s important to know what
these guys are doing that has made this show such a hit. The majority of
their time is spent in Forman’s basement just chilling out and of course
smoking up, which are some of the funniest scenes ever aired on TV. The
group is also really into playing pranks on each other, it’s like the early
start of Punk’d for Kutcher.

For many fans of the show season four won’t mean much to you, so
let me place it in context of the rest of the shows for you. Season four
picks up right after Eric and Donna break up. Also Donna’s mom, Midge
Pinciotti (Tanya Roberts) has left the show. This leads to great
tensions between the once happy couple and a few new relationships in the

/> season. Donna starts dating Michael’s older brother Casey, while her dad Bob
Pinciotti (Don Stark) begins his relationship with Joann.

Compared to other shows and even other seasons of That
70′s Show
this one is a pure gem. Unlike many seasonal box sets I
found all 27 episodes to be enjoyable. This season is filled with lots of
burns, Red (Kurtwood Smith) calling Eric a dumb-ass, and more of
Leo (Tommy Chong) the burnt out hippie.

The season also features a musical episode, which is pretty much
20 minutes of the cast singing classic rock karaoke style. This is also the
season where he learn of origin of the gang in a “how they met” memories
episode.

There you have it. If you were a child of the 70′s, a fan of
comedy, or a fan of 70′s music, which is played throughout all of the
episodes you’ll enjoy this show and this particular DVD box set. With 27
easy to watch 20 minute episodes and a touch of commentary on each of the 4
DVDs you can’t go wrong picking this one up.
