New Bluray and DVD Releases for March 23

The string of quality DVD and Blu-Ray releases continues this week as newly single Sandra Bullock’s Academy Award winning performance in John Lee Hancock’s The Blind Side tackles your DVD and Blu-Ray player. If you’re in the mood for something that smells less like awards season but still want a healthy dose of well-acted drama, check out Jim Sheridan’s Brothers. The film stars Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal in some of the best performances of their respective careers. If you don’t feel like stocking up on movie-watching tissues, check out Wes Anderson’s critically lauded stop-motion classic Fantastic Mr. Fox. The visually artistic masterpiece stars the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman so you can’t really go wrong even if you’re not a fan of stop-motion. Finally, if one George Clooney movie doesn’t whet your salt-and-pepper-hair appetite, fear not. The comedy drama The Men Who Stare at Goats makes its way to home release. While overseas, Sam’s aircraft gets shot down and he’s thought dead. Back home, irresponsible Tommy gets his act together in order to be an anchor for Grace and the girls, and the two grow emotionally — though not physically — close. As the family finally begins to make peace with their grief, soldiers rescue POW Sam and he returns home. Sam’s experiences overseas have caused him such emotional turmoil, he has a difficult time adjusting to civilian life, and soon his fear and paranoia manifest themselves in the form of jealousy for his brother’s relationship with his wife.
